Angolan Family Farm Introduces Semi-automatic Nursery Tray Seeder

Recently, our factory completed the production and delivery of a semi-automatic nursery tray seeder machine. The customer is a small family farmer from Angola.

Information of customer background

The customer has been specializing in tomato seedling production and sales for many years. His farm covers an area of about 2 acres, and he cultivates tomato seedlings by hand sowing seeds in a traditional way, and then picks the fruits when they are ripe and transports them to the local open-air market to set up stalls for retail sales.

However, the inefficiency of hand sowing, with a seedling yield of only 65%, and the soaring labor costs during the rainy season, were constraining the farm’s expansion. So the hope is to find an affordable equipment that can improve the success rate of seedling nursery and reduce the dependence on skilled labor.

The semi-automatic vegetable seedling nursery machine delivered was designed for small-scale growers, with core features including:

• Ensures that each tomato seed goes into the soil at the same depth by means of an adjustable burrow filling device.
• It can complete sowing of 500-800 seedlings in a single day, which is 3 times more efficient than manual labor.
• Optimized design of temperature-controlled mulching structure, adapting to the environmental characteristics of Angola’s large temperature difference between day and night.

• Traditional nursery needs to employ 2 workers, while semi-automatic equipment can be operated by 1 person, reducing labor cost by 50%.
• Precise temperature control shortens the growth cycle of tomato seedlings from 35 days to 28 days, ensuring that transplanting is completed before the rainy season.
• Seedling rate increased to 90%, seedling root system is more robust, open-air market competitiveness significantly enhanced.
