Drum Nursery Seedling Machine for Precision Tray Seeding
KMR drum nursery seedling machine delivers 600–1200 trays/h with ≥95% seeding accuracy for pelleted seeds, supporting 0.3–6 mm seeds and seedling trays up to 540 mm wide. It integrates precision seeding, substrate filling, soil covering, watering, and tray receiving for efficient commercial nursery production.

The KMR series drum nursery seedling machine covers two main models: KMR‑200 and KMR‑300. Built on an electric‑pneumatic vacuum‑drum working principle, it achieves seeding accuracy of over 95% for pelletized seeds, with a working output ranging from 600 to 1200 trays per hour. It supports seeds of various shapes with particle sizes from 0.3 mm to 6 mm.
This modular seeding line comes with photoelectric sensing detection, variable‑frequency speed regulation, and a dedicated seed‑recovery device. Users can flexibly select functional units such as substrate feeding, tray filling, seeding, soil covering, watering and tray collecting according to actual demands.
It features intuitive one‑touch touchscreen operation to drastically reduce labor input while guaranteeing uniform seedling emergence. Therefore, it perfectly meets production requirements ranging from small‑and‑medium‑sized greenhouses to large‑scale commercial seedling factories.
Drum type seeder machine applicable materials and scenarios
Suitable seeds for sowing
All kinds of vegetable and flower seeds, including pelletized seeds and irregular‑shaped seeds, with a particle size ranging from 0.3‑6 mm.
Target application scenarios
- Large‑scale commercial industrial seedling‑raising bases and seedling propagation factories

- Small‑and‑medium‑sized nurseries for upgrading to replace manual seeding work

Drum nursery seedling machine composition & working process
The whole machine adopts a modular combined structure, with optional functional units available on demand. A complete production line consists of a substrate feeder, substrate tray filler, hole‑punching mechanism, main drum seeder, soil‑covering mechanism, watering unit and tray collector. Customers may also purchase only the central seeding main unit for flexible adaptation to workshop space constraints.
Four‑step complete operating process
- Substrate filling & hole punching: Substrate is evenly filled into plug trays, and the hole‑punching mechanism forms standardized seed cavities. Each unit is equipped with variable‑frequency speed regulation to adjust conveying speed and prevent tray stacking or jamming.
- Vacuum drum seeding: A vacuum pump drives the drum to pick up seeds. Excess seeds are blown off via air‑pressure adjustment, so seeds are precisely dropped into pre‑punched cavities. A special seed‑recovery device recycles surplus seeds for reuse.
- Soil covering: The soil‑covering mechanism applies a thin top‑layer of substrate to lock in moisture and create favorable conditions for seed germination.
- Watering & tray collecting (optional): The optional watering module adds surface irrigation. The tray collector automatically gathers finished plug trays, which can be directly transferred to the germination chamber.
The drum nursery seedling machine is fitted with a photoelectric sensing system. It stops soil filling and seeding automatically when no tray is detected. This function prevents idle seeding and avoids unnecessary seed waste.

Automatic drum nursery tray seeder core product advantages
- High seeding accuracy & seed saving: Achieves ≥95% accuracy for pelletized seeds. The vacuum‑drum fits various seed shapes. Built‑in seed‑recovery unit reduces waste of high‑value seeds and avoids miss‑seeding / double‑seeding for even seedling emergence.
- Synchronized variable‑frequency & stable performance: Independent speed adjustment for tray filling, seeding and soil‑covering stations. Well‑matched speed prevents tray jamming and stacking for long‑time continuous running.
- Intelligent photoelectric protection & easy operation: Photoelectric sensor halts work without trays to cut consumable loss. Combined touch‑screen & button control for simple operation. KMR‑300 adopts Siemens PLC and imported electric parts. Its motor saves 50% energy with 5‑fold service life of standard motors.
- Flexible modular options: Available as full‑line or standalone core seeder. Watering and tray‑collecting modules are optional. Custom floating trays are supported. Compact KMR‑200 suits small‑medium workshops; complete KMR‑300 serves large‑scale seedling factories.
- Wide compatibility for multi‑crop sowing: Handles seeds 0.3‑6 mm (0.3‑5 mm for KMR‑200), including irregular‑shaped seeds. Works with mainstream plug trays up to 540 mm width (72/105/128‑hole) for multiple seedling varieties.
- Simple maintenance: Electric‑pneumatic mixed drum for easy adjustment. Wearing parts are quick to replace. On‑site staff can complete daily maintenance.

Commercial drum nursery seedling machine operation tips
- Startup procedure: Turn on power and air‑supply switches, and connect the vacuum pump to the air inlets of the seeding drum. Jog‑run the drum, adjust blow‑off and clearing air pressure to remove excess seeds from the drum.
- Parameter setting: Set tray row numbers on the touch‑screen panel according to your plug tray: 6 rows for 72‑cell trays, 7 rows for 105‑cell trays, 8 rows for 128‑cell trays.
- Drum height adjustment: Keep the lowest seed‑dropping point of the drum approx. 10 mm above the tray surface. Too high causes inaccurate seed placement; too low leads to substrate sticking to the suction drum.
- Line‑speed matching logic: Set the soil‑filling unit slightly slower than the seeder, and the soil‑covering unit slightly faster than the seeder, to prevent tray jamming or stacking.
- Power‑cycle restart note: After power loss and restart, toggle the drum start switch OFF then ON again; otherwise the drum will not rotate.

常问问题
